FAQs

Am I eligible for transportation?

All honorably discharged veterans and spouses residing within Livingston County are eligible for our transportation. A copy of the veteran’s DD-214 or VA medical card will need to be presented to driver upon first pick up to verify eligibility. Driver will then send a copy to the office to keep on file.

Where can I go?

Transportation is for medical appointments within a 50-mile radius and for rides to and from our office for a scheduled appointment with a benefits counselor.

What are your hours of operation?

Our transportation services are offered Monday through Friday. We ask that you attempt to make all VA appointments no earlier than 8 a.m. and no later than 2 p.m. as we try to avoid rush hour traffic as much as possible. Transportation does not run on weekends or County holidays and may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

How do I schedule transportation?

Call (517) 546-6600 and select Option 3 to schedule transportation. You must call no later than 48 hours prior to an appointment. You may schedule a ride as early as 30 days prior to a scheduled appointment. Our drivers DO NOT schedule. If you tell your driver you need transportation but don’t call LETS, then you will not be picked up.

Where are your pick-up & drop-off locations?

We are a door-to-door service. Our drivers will pick you up from the address given when transportation is scheduled. You may also opt to be picked up in our office’s parking lot.

What should I expect when I ride with veteran services?

We have AMAZING drivers, Jon, Tom and Tony. When riding with us you can expect compassionate, patient, and respectful service. They work hard to keep wait times down to a minimum. You can expect an automated call the night before your appointment to confirm your ride. Please let the drivers know of multiple appointments or any special accommodations that may be needed at the time of pick up. They often have multiple pick-ups so we request veterans be ready and waiting on the agreed upon time. To ensure everyone makes it to their appointments on time, the van will wait up to five minutes for a passenger before leaving. There may be a wait period before or after your appointment time to accommodate other passengers.

What else do I need to know?

It is highly recommended you read our transportation policy before riding, specifically the “Passenger Conduct Policy.” If you choose to utilize our services, it is implied that you have read and agree to abide by our policy. Our policy covers expectations of our drivers and passengers. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time if you have any questions or concerns. Our office phone number is (517) 546-6338.

Do I have any alternative transportation options?
