The following changes have been made to the Michigan State Police’s Sex Offender Registry Unit. (Effective March 24, 2021)
Individuals with initial registration dates prior to July 1, 2011 who have had no registrable offense since, have no obligation to report email or internet identifiers. If your initial registration date was after July 1, 2011, you are required to report all email and internet identifiers.
Registered individuals must update their status for any of the changes below with the registering authority that has jurisdiction over their residence no more than three business days after the change.
- Residence or domicile
- Employment
- Enrollment as a student
- Name in person
Registered individuals may update any of the following changes. Send updates by first class mail to the registering authority that has jurisdiction over your residence no more than three business days after a change. Use the RI-004A to update your changes.
- Vehicle information
- Electronic mail addresses
- Internet identifiers
- Telephone numbers
The requirement to maintain a valid operator’s or chauffeur’s license issued under the Michigan vehicle code or an official state personal identification card does not apply to an individual required to be registered who is homeless.
