The Livingston County Sheriff’s Dive Team is a dedicated team of Deputies specially trained in scuba diving and underwater search techniques. The Sheriff’s Dive Team is part of the Livingston County SRT Dive Team, which consists of divers from the Sheriff’s Office as well as divers from Livingston County area police and fire departments including Howell, Hartland, Hamburg, Brighton, Putnam, Green Oak, and Fowlerville. All of these divers, support personnel, and departments work together to provide underwater search/rescue and recovery operations within Livingston County.

The Dive Team trains on a monthly basis year round. Training topics include search procedures, diving skills, evidence handling, and ice diving in the winter. For those that dive in the Caribbean, you have an image of a beautiful reef, and great visibility. Here in Michigan, we have forty-degree water (even in August) and no visibility.

The Livingston County Dive Team is a 501(C)(3) non profit organization. The organization exists to provide funds for the purchase of additional equipment and training for the members. Anyone wishing to make a donation may contact Sgt. Jim Steinaway at (517) 546-2440 or jsteinaway@livgov.com for details. Donations may be tax deductible.
