PPO Forms may be obtained at the Livingston County Juvenile Court by calling (517) 546-1500 or emailing juvenilecourt@livgov.com.

A Personal Protection Order (PPO) is a court order to stop threats or violence against you. The Juvenile Court has jurisdiction to conduct minor PPO proceedings involving respondents age 10 until their 18th birthday.

You can ask the court for a PPO if the abuser is 10 years old or older. A PPO cannot be issued against a person who is under 10 years old. PPOs are not for problems between parents and their minor children. A PPO against one’s minor child cannot be issued unless the child is an emancipated minor.

Minors can ask the court for a personal protection order (PPO) with the help of someone called a next friend. A next friend is usually a parent or other trusted adult. The next friend will file for the PPO on behalf of the minor.
