Addresses Issued by Livingston County GIS
Brighton Township, Conway, Cohoctah, Deerfield, Genoa, Green Oak, Hamburg, Handy, Hartland, Iosco, Marion, Oceola, Putnam, and Tyrone Townships, the Villages of Fowlerville and Pinckney, and the DTE customers in Unadilla Township.

Online Addressing Process
- Complete the Address Application. Must include the following:
- Land use permit (obtained from your Township)
- Proof of Ownership (see specifications below)
- Driveway Permit from Livingston County Road Commission
- Current parcel number
- Site plan with the following noted:
- Frontage road(s)
- Property lines
- Driveway location – For parcels with frontage on more than one road. The driveway location helps determine an accurate address number, as well as the road name.
- Email address on the Addressing Application that the assigned address should be sent to.
- Email Addressing Application and supporting documentation to: addressing@livgov.com.
- GIS office will call for payment during scheduled office hours.
- Addresses are issued within four-five days. You’ll receive an email with an attached Address Assignment Form.
Address Application Requirements
Residential or Commercial Single Address
If you are building a single-family residence or one commercial building, use the Residential or Commercial Address Application form. Supplemental information requirements:
- Proof of Ownership. Acceptable documentation including:
- Warranty, Quit Claim Deed, or Executors Deed that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- Land Contract or Memorandum of Land Contract that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- Current tax bill that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- Survey of the property showing the location of the building being addressed, the driveway, and existing surrounding addresses. A sketch of the site plan is allowed when a survey does not exist.
- Driveway Permit or Waiver Letter from the Livingston County Road Commission.
- Closest existing addresses. We require the posted addresses to both sides of the property to be addressed and across the street. Please indicate the approximate distance each address is from your driveway. This information is vital to the issuance of your address as we do not do a drive by of each property and there may be addresses in use that we are unaware of.
- $20 fee for each address requested. (Cash or Check accepted)
Development Addresses
If you are developing a site with multiple homes or need many commercial addresses use the Multi-unit Development Address Application form. All addresses for the development must be applied for and paid for at one time. Supplemental information requirements:
- Final Site Plan of the development showing:
- Lot, Unit, or Site Numbers
- Meters that require addresses clearing marked
- Approved street names and suffixes
- For multiple unit condominiums and strip malls, the location of each entry and door with reference to which unit it services
- Letter of Approval for all street names from the Livingston County Road Commission
- Parent Parcel ID Numbers for all property included in the development.
- Legal Description for the entire development.
- $20 fee for each lot/unit and meter requiring an address.
Electric Meter Addresses
The energy companies require each meter to be issued an address for their billing purposes. These addresses are for the meter only and are not an official property address and are not to be used as the mailing address. Single Electric Meter Address Application requirements:
- Proof of Ownership. Acceptable documentation is:
- A Warranty, Quit Claim Deed, or Executors Deed that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- A Land Contract or Memorandum of Land Contract that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- A current tax bill that shows the owner’s name and contains a full legal description of the property.
- Closest Existing Addresses
- Surrounding property addresses, including any buildings or existing meters on the property
- Survey of the property (A sketch of the site plan is allowed when a survey does not exist)
- Location of the meter requiring an address.
- Measurements from meter to property lines.
- $20 fee for each meter address requested. (Cash or Check accepted.)
If you need a meter in an existing development, use the Electric Meter Address Application and submit a site plan showing the location of each meter. Each address costs $20.
