Livingston County will be closed on Monday, May 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

Interactive Voice Response System

All of the Friend of the Court Offices (FOCs) in Michigan, pursuant to state mandate, have an interactive voice response system (IVR) that takes the initial phone call coming into the FOC office. When contacting the Friend of the Court Office by phone at 877-543-2660, your call will be answered by the IVR. This IVR is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and provides information regarding payments, enforcement, payment coupons, direct deposit, scheduled hearings, office hours, location, and more. The IVR provides step by step instructions for new users and will let experienced users move quickly through the prompts.

Given the volume of telephone calls and complexity of some issues, operators will answer basic questions. For detailed case related questions, operators will forward your call to our appropriate staff member. Please note, if you leave a message for a staff member of the FOC, your call will be returned within 2 business days. Please do not leave multiple messages unless 2 business days have passed with no response.

PIN Number

To access your specific case information, it is necessary to enter your social security number. The first time you access the IVR you will be asked to establish a personal identification number (PIN) number. You will need to record the PIN number for future calls to access case specific information. If you cannot remember your PIN number you must complete a PIN Change Form with the MiSDU.

Payment Information

Payments are distributed by the Michigan State Disbursement Unit (MiSDU). You should use the IVR for payment information or use the IVR to transfer to the MiSDU. You can contact the MiSDU through the IVR by selecting option 4 after you’ve selected your language (English or Spanish.)

Identity Verification

When contacting your caseworker, in order to maintain confidentiality of your information, you will be asked by your caseworker to verify your identity. This is required by state regulations. The questions you will be asked to verify your identity are:

  • What is your address?
  • What is your Social Security number?
  • What is your date of birth?
  • What are the names of the parties on the case? and
  • What is the docket number or county of order.

If you have an attorney and you authorize your attorney to receive case information, state regulations require that your attorney have a written release of information on file with the FOC. The release must contain:

  • Your name;
  • Name of the attorney;
  • Effective date of the authorization;
  • Your signature; and
  • Date of your signature.
