About the Board of Public Works
The BPW oversees projects under construction within the County. The BPW also authorizes the payment of bills and invoices for projects under their jurisdiction. Upon completion, a project may be turned over to the municipality for everyday operation.
Projects still under the Board of Public Works include:
- The closed county landfill in Howell Township is overseen by the BPW.
- The Livingston Regional Sewer System located in Hartland Township is under the daily operation of the Drain Commissioner’s Office and overseen by the BPW.

Solid Waste Management Committee
A nine member committee appointed by the Livingston County Board of Commissioners to review plans for proposed solid waste facilities in Livingston County. The committee also acts as an advisory board to the Livingston County Solid Waste Program.
The committee consists of:
- Two general public representatives
- One solid waste industry representative
- One environmental health representative
- One public health representative
- One city/village representative
- Three township representatives
