2026 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Dates are May 2nd, July 18th and September 19th.
Sign up for each of these events will open at least 4 weeks before the event on the DPW Home Page
This valuable public program is supported by the Livingston County Board of Commissioners and the Livingston County Drain Commissioner’s Office and staff. With additional support and cooperation from our Townships, we are able to offer battery collection sites, notification of events, and participation from staff and volunteers.
- Free for residents of Livingston County!
- An appointment is required and space is limited. To be able to accommodate as many households as possible, please limit your sign up to one event. If signup is full, please check back every few days in case an appointment opens up.
- Only bring items to collection locations on appointed days at your scheduled time.
- All household hazardous waste is removed by a vendor on the collection days. We do not have space to store items.

If an event is full or you are unable to schedule a convenient time to dispose of your household hazardous waste, the private businesses below may accept your household hazardous waste for a fee. Please call or go to their websites for additional information.

Waste Collection for Businesses & Organizations
EPA and State regulations do not allow businesses (including governments, schools and religious organizations) to use the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events. Businesses must properly dispose of all hazardous materials generated. Visit the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s website for more information.
