About Judge Bain

The Honorable Daniel B. Bain was appointed to the bench in 2019 and re-elected to the bench in 2020. 

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Bain was in private practice with the firm of Bain and Bain PC for 25 years. While in private practice, Judge Bain practiced law with his late father, John I. (Jack) Bain, and his older brother John I. Bain Jr. Judge Bain represented clients in a wide variety of legal matters including misdemeanors, felonies and capital felony matters, complex commercial litigations, landlord tenant disputes, business litigation, probate litigations, and divorce matters. Judge Bain made frequent appearances in front of multiple administrative boards including but not limited to Township Boards, City Councils, Zoning Board of Appeals, Michigan Liquor License Commission, and the Michigan Department of State.  While in private practice, Judge Bain litigated and tried many cases in multiple jurisdictions throughout the state of Michigan. Judge Bain is a co-author of ICLES 2010 “Michigan Criminal Procedure”. He frequently lectures to high school and middle school students regarding issues pertaining to the criminal law and decisions that affect people’s lives.

Judge Bain serves on the board of directors for The Livingston County Community Alliance and the Arc of Livingston County.
