About Judge Bain

Judge Daniel Bain was appointed to the bench by the Governor on September 18, 2019.

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Bain was in private practice with the firm of Bain and Bain PC for 25 years. While in private practice, Judge Bain practiced law with his late father, John I. (Jack) Bain, and his older brother John I. Bain Jr. Judge Bain spent 25 years representing clients in a wide variety of legal matters including misdemeanors, felonies and capital felony matters, complex commercial litigations, landlord tenant disputes, business litigation, probate litigations, divorce, family law; as well as representing clients in front of multiple administrative boards including but not limited to Township Boards, City Councils Zoning Board of Appeals, Michigan Liquor License Commission, and the Michigan Department of State. While in private practice, Judge Bain litigated and tried many cases in multiple jurisdictions throughout the state of Michigan. Judge Bain is a co-author of ICLES 2010 “Michigan Criminal Procedure.” Judge Bain also frequently lectures to high school and middle school students regarding issues pertaining to the criminal law and the decisions that affect people’s lives.

Judge Bain holds a B.A. from Michigan State University (1989) and a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (1993).

Judge Bain is a member of the following: State Bar of Michigan; U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan; Livingston County Bar Association; Howell Rotary Club; Michigan Association of Justice; Michigan United Conservation Club.
